Christmas is for rest, family, and rejoicing. However, it is easy to get overwhelmed with consumerism.
What is the antidote to holiday stress? We asked our team members what they love most about Christmas, and they delivered!
“I love the smiles on my children’s face,” says Director of Production Amy Park. “I love knowing that we are celebrating our Savior’s birth. I love the living nativity that our church puts on every year…. I love snuggling with my kids. I love hearing the sound of laughing and talking about what they love most.”
Senior graphic designer Kim Hine says, “One of my favorite family traditions is participating in the Christmas pageant at … St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hagerstown. Over the past 13 years, we have played many roles: my husband and I have been Mary and Joseph on two occasions, my son Logan played the baby Jesus at 3 months old, my son Zander played the baby Jesus at 8 months old, [and] we’ve been shepherds and sheep, angels and wise men.”
“My favorite part of Christmas is visiting my mother’s family in Sydney, Australia,” says Digital Editor and Strategist Esther Grace. “Every year, we light the Christmas pudding on fire, wrestle with waves on the world’s best beaches, and laugh together.”
Administrative Director Pat Grigsby says, “I like giving people gifts. It’s mostly about the people. Most of my family is in Cleveland, although I have lived in DC for 30 years. For instance… when you leave Virginia, there’s almost always no snow. By the time you get to Cleveland, there’s almost always snow.”
Doug Johnson, our web designer, is looking forward to spending time with family in Florida. He says, “I love faith, family, and food!”
“I just love being with family and the rest that comes from Christmas,” Victor Rogers, President of STRIVE3 notes. “It really is the one time of year that we can just put all the busyness on pause and enjoy what is really important. That’s what I love.”
From our homes to yours, we wish you a merry Christmas!
